Validated against a 580 MWp production project — 34,447 tracker strings
across 102 parcels — at 100% agreement with an independent CAD
classification of the same layout. Single-axis tracker screening, at any array
orientation. An automated step no other solar site-intelligence platform currently offers.
Single-axis tracker rules
- E–W along each row — site edge → external string column; internal road or equipment gap greater than 20 m → external column at that section end.
- N–S between rows — each string is external if no X-overlapping neighbour sits within 20 m edge-to-edge above or below.
- Site-edge fallback — tracker edges within ~2 m of the array bounding box are treated as external.
Fixed tilt
Fixed-tilt arrays use ASCE 7-22 style perimeter rows and row-end strings — a different classifier from SAT, and one we have not yet validated against a reference project. Treat fixed-tilt I/E as indicative only. Toggle I/E on the layout map to preview colours.
In the app
LayoutIQ map → toggle I/E to colour each string. External and internal counts appear in the map legend and in the unified PVMath report LayoutIQ section.
Screening only. This is a feasibility envelope for early EPC review —
not a manufacturer-specific stow strategy, pile design, or bankable wind study.
Confirm with independent engineer review before FEED.
