GIS buildable area & exclusions

Pack rows on the buildable polygon — with roads, buildings, water, and your own no-build zones respected.

Buildable vs full boundary

By default LayoutIQ packs on the SiteIQ buildable area — the site boundary minus OSM-detected constraints and engineering setbacks (roads, railways, buildings, water, transmission, forests with buffers).

Toggle use full boundary for an early capacity sketch without GIS exclusions (e.g. before SiteIQ GIS completes or for landlord-boundary-only studies).

Manual exclusion zones

Draw or upload additional no-build polygons (wetlands, heritage buffers, substation footprints). LayoutIQ preserves GeoJSON holes so rows do not pack into excluded areas.

Soft vs hard constraints

Prune isolated blocks

Optional prune isolated blocks removes tiny row fragments that would not be buildable at utility scale — cleaner MWp numbers for screening reports.
